  1. 14 Trailers

Charlie Wilson's War just came out on DVD. Watching it again after all these months, I was struck by how rich the dialogue is. Something that always ticks me off seeing a movie in the theatre is the (mercifully rare) audience that has been silent for 45 minutes, suddenly laughs because they've finally heard a line from the trailers. It's like they have no ability to judge for themselves if a line is funny or not. But if it's in the trailer, that must be a funny one, here comes the dutiful "Ha ha ha" You just know you're surrounded by the people mentioned previously who absorb advertising, publisher's blurbs, and press releases without ever stopping to consider that this is not an unbiased opinion.

Anyway, back to CWW. Most movies, you can always tell a few lines that are here just for the trailer. A ferociously punchy description of some piece of the plot. In CWW, the thing I realized is they have enough of those to make about 14 different...
  2. All or nothing, Part 1

Whew, what a week. Started out behind on all fronts, and not only emerged victoriously caught up, I have a new client to boot. Not surprisingly, there was a reaction. Yesterday, when the final task was accomplished, it was me time. No blog was a-happening. So today, I hope to make it up to you with a double. These groups inevitably cast one weak link in every show. Sometimes it's politics. Sometimes it's necessity, the only way to fill out the cast. But it seems like there is always one poor ass up there who simply doesn't belong on stage. In an ordinary show, that's fine. It's not...
  3. I noticed a theme

Well, let's see. You're mixing together two different series by two different writers to make your observations. MyklarCure writes JLAin't, where your Aquaman and Wonder Woman reference is from, and I write Cat-Tales, where Ra's is, as well as other Diana appearances. A subtle nuance, perhaps, but worth mentioning before we continue.

While I don't know that Myk had a particular instance in mind of Diana saying she wanted a Meta-run state, she was actively DOING it in the graphic novel Earth 2. She was the face of Big Brother on a planet-size viewscreen, evangelizing the new world order of goodness and light they were imposing on this parallel dimension they'd conquered. And she was devastated when they had to withdraw and let the native...
